FSVP Importer for Trade Show Exhibitors

Foreign food producers/suppliers seeking to bring food entries into the United States must have a U.S.-based FSVP Importer in accordance with FMSA regulations. The Radius Group can act as your appointed FSVP Importer to verify that as a foreign food producer, your company is writing and implementing food safety plans that meet FSMA requirements. Food products, both domestic and foreign, that are intended for human or animal consumption must comply with these food regulations.

FSVP Importers review and verify that the foreign food producer’s food safety plans, systems and documentation comply with FDA laws. The FSVP Importer analyzes the preventive controls in place, performs ongoing hazard assessment, reviews and evaluates facility audits, and ensures lawful allergen labeling. FSVP Importers provide the necessary documentation to the FDA to confirm that a foreign food producer/supplier’s food safety activities are complete and effective and meet FDA requirements.

The U.S. requires international exhibitors in most food and beverage categories to appoint a U.S.-based FSVP Importer to present their foreign food products at American trade shows. Appointing The Radius Group as your FSVP Importer should take place as soon as possible, preferably when signing the contract to attend a food trade show, or no later than 90 days prior to exporting your shipment of products to the United States.

FDA Foreign Food Facility Registration & Communication Agent

The FDA requires that foreign food facilities whose products remain in the United States appoint an FDA Foreign Food Facility Registration Agent based in the U.S. The FDA requires registration renewal every two years to take place on even-numbered years during a designated period.

The Radius Group can serve as this agent, submitting registration documentation and representing the foreign food facility in ongoing communication exchanges with the FDA. The Radius Group is trained to serve as a communications conduit between the foreign food producer and the FDA, with comprehensive knowledge of the terms and the regulations governing the entry of food into this country. The Communications Agent must retain all records of the transport of the food and beverage products for two years including shipping and delivery details, and must facilitate any FDA request to review the records. Should there be any changes to the mandatory information that the FDA requires, the Agent must supply such information to the FDA within 60 days.

The use of communications agents helps the FDA to track the origin and destination of food products, as they assess and respond to actual or potential threats to the food supply in the United States, as well as to disseminate any important food safety information.
